COMPETITION DETAILS

Furtados is pleased to announce the sixteenth Con Brio Competition which will take place at the NCPA (Mumbai) on July 24, 25 and 26, 2026. The Competition Suite comprises two categories: Piano and Bowed Strings.

Piano Semifinalists are expected to arrive in Mumbai by Friday July 24, 12:00 pm at the very latest and depart no sooner than Saturday July 25, 10:00 pm.

Bowed Strings Semifinalists are expected to arrive in Mumbai by Friday July 24, 12:00 pm at the very latest and depart no sooner than Sunday July 26, 10:00 pm.

DISCIPLINE

The subject of the competition is Western Classical solo music for Piano and Bowed Strings (Violin, Viola, Cello, Double Bass). This includes music written from the late baroque period, through the classical and romantic till the modern time. For music composed during and after the late nineteenth century, you must ensure that the selected works follow the classical music paradigm and not jazz/pop styles.

ELIGIBILITY

The competition is open to Indian nationals (including PIO and OCI card holders).

All entrants must be born on or after January 1, 1991.

You will need to produce a valid passport for verification purposes.

 

Previous first place winners of Con Brio and honorary Con Brio prize recipients may not enter the competition.

THEME

There is no thematic restriction for this year’s competition.

PRIZES (ALL CATEGORES)

First Prize                   Rs 1,00,000 cash
Second Prize              Rs 50,000 cash
Third Prize                  Rs 25,000 cash
Semifinalists               Rs 15,000 cash each


Tax will be deducted at source as applicable, and prize-winners will be issued a TDS certificate.
The adjudicators reserve the right to withhold the first and/or second prize if the level of
performance of the competitors does not meet the expected standard.
