THE COMPETITION SUITE
Furtados is pleased to announce the thirteenth Con Brio Competition which will take place at
the NCPA (Mumbai) on September 15, 16 and 17, 2023. The Competition Suite comprises
three OPEN categories: Piano, Violin/Viola and Voice.
Semifinalists are expected to arrive in Mumbai by Friday, September 15, 12:00 pm at the very
latest and depart no sooner than Sunday, September 17, 10:00 pm. This document contains all
the relevant information for potential competitors.
The subject of the competition is Western Classical solo music for Piano, Violin/Viola or Voice.
This includes music written from the late baroque period, through the classical and romantic till
the modern times. For music composed during and after the late nineteenth century, you must
ensure that the selected works follow the classical music paradigm and not jazz/pop/musical
The competition is open to all Indian nationals (including PIO and OCI card holders). There is a specific age limit for each category applicable as of the last date for receiving applications. This is clarified further in the supplementary document for each individual competition. You will need to produce a valid passport for verification purposes.
Con Brio 2023 explores the intersection of music and visual art. Every piece featured in the
Competition and Festival will be accompanied by a visual artwork chosen exclusively by its
performer. The artwork will reflect the performer’s interpretation of the imagery, narrative and
character of the piece.

First Prize Rs 1,00,000 cash
Second Prize Rs 50,000 cash
Third Prize Rs 25,000 cash
Semifinalists Rs 5,000 cash each
Tax will be deducted at source as applicable, and prize-winners will be issued a TDS certificate.
The adjudicators reserve the right to withhold the first and/or second prize if the level of
performance of the competitors does not meet the expected standard.
